The wanted posters just got a price tag. President Trump announced that the United States will pay $1 million to anyone who reports voter fraud that leads to an arrest and conviction, covering both past elections and the upcoming November 3 midterms.
Read the fine print, because the fine print is the whole business model: the million is paid upon the arrest and conviction of those that created the fraud. Not upon the tip. Not upon the tweet. Upon the conviction. The bounty is not for gossip. It is for results, which is more than most government programs can say.
This is, by any measure, the most aggressive customer-acquisition strategy in the history of election integrity. For years the pitch to whistleblowers was civic duty and a hotline. Now it is a seven-figure check. Somewhere in America, a person who knows something is doing the math, and the math is very persuasive.
The fraudsters, meanwhile, have just been given a market value. One million dollars apiece, payable to whoever turns them in. That is a strange kind of fame, and an even stranger kind of retirement plan.
